Who doesn’t love this weather? It’s the best summer of all our lifetimes but dangers also come with extremely good weather.
Authorities have warned young people in particular to be extra vigilant in relation to playing in and around water.
The Liberal spoke to a member of the gardai who told us:
“Of course we understand that people will flock towards the water, we bring our own families when we’re off, but it’s very important to be vigilant in and around water”.
“Young people especially tend to go to remote lakes and reservoirs where there is no security, no lifeguards and no one to save them if they get into trouble”.
“We advise people to go to beaches or swimming pools where lifeguards are in attendance and where they can be easily rescued if something happens. We’d ask people to share this information with their friends in an effort to raise awareness about dangers water can pose”.
