The news was confirmed by the State Examinations Board who said they have permanently withheld 20 results on suspicion cheating, whilst a further 15 results are under investigation.

The latest developments come a total of 80 Leaving Cert students had their results withheld earlier this year also on suspicion of cheating.

It is understood 43 those have had their exam resultspermanently withheld, whilst a further 37 have been withheld pending an investigation.

The State Examinations Commission say all those who had their exams withheld and appeal their decision, but they reiterated that any exams that have been withheld were withheld on strong grounds that cheating was involved.
