American Airlines flight forced to divert to Shannon Airport due to medical emergency on board

An American Airlines flight was forced to divert to Shannon Airport earlier today due a medical emergency on board the aircraft.

Flight AA-714, en route from Philadelphia to Venice, was flying over the Atlantic about 250km west of Ireland when a passenger took ill, so Shannon Airport was the closest airport.

The plane landed there normally just after 7am on Saturday morning, and a male passenger was taken away for treatment.
