In one incident, a Cork woman had €600 taken from her account in UK-based transactions, after her card was reportedly copied by a skimming device here in Ireland.
In a separate incident, an elderly woman had her card taken from her and money illegally drawn from her account when a couple managed to distract her while she was using an ATM in Glanmire, Co. Cork.
Gardai have renewed appeals for people to be vigilant while using ATM machines.
A garda spokesman said: “People need to be very wary about people standing near them at ATM machines. Always make sure you keep the keypad covered to prevent people seeing your PIN number.”
