Bad news for parents and students as ASTI warn of possible all out strike

The president of the ASTI has warned that secondary schools across the country could face further closures in the coming months ahead.

The stark news comes after the union recently agreed to ballot it’s members in response to their pay claims and recent work stoppages.

The union say all out strike action could become a possibility if it’s members vote down the latest ballot.

It is thought there are two main sticking points in regards to the Government’s proposal which the union say that must be addressed immediately.

The ASTI say the vast majority of it members want the issues of pay equality for new entrants to the profession along with the outdated Junior cycle reform to be addressed before any agreement can be made.
