Earlier this year we were treated to an entertaining showdown between boxing great Floyd Mayweather and UFC legend Conor McGregor which got everyone talking.
Well now it seems everyone could soon see ‘The Notorious’ back in the ring as he has been challenged by another boxing legend.
The Dublin native who fairly held his own against the undefeated Mayweather could soon be heading for another massive payday if the legend that is Oscar De la Hoya has his way.
In an astonishing announcement the former boxer who is now aged 44, revealed that he is secretly in training for a showdown with the current UFC lightweight champion.
Although a fight has yet to be officially confirmed, De La Hoya has said he is willing to take on the Irishman in the ring.
In an interview with Dash Radio, De La Hoya even claimed that he could knockout McGregor within two rounds.
The confident ring master who last fought against Manny Pacquiao, also revealed that he was in the best shape ever and as competitive as ever.
It is yet to be seen whether or not McGregor or indeed the UFC will respond to De La Hoya’s challenge, but one can’t help but think if the price is right we could very well see ‘The Notorious’ fight under Queensbury rules once again.
