Crisis averted: Great news, Prosecco shortage crisis now officially over after experts reveal bumper harvest

There was great news announced recently for Prosecco lovers everywhere as experts revealed that the recent shortage crisis is now officially over after they reported a bumper grape harvest.

According to latest figures the crop which is grown near Venice, has remarkably produced enough grapes to produce a massive 450 million bottles of the bubbly wine. The recent increase in growth will enable experts to produce an extra 144 million more bottles, that will surely keep us going throughout the summer.

Meanwhile latest statistics show that Ireland and the UK’s wine lovers have increased its prosecco consumption by a massive 48% between 2014 and 2015. The increase in popularity for Prosecco worldwide caused panic amongst experts just a few months ago as they feared there would not be enough grapes grown to keep up with the excess demand. However thankfully the latest rise in crop production will see the sparkling wine stay around for a long period to come.

The news of the recent bumper harvest was welcomed by Stefano Zanette, president of the consortium for the protection of prosecco, who said: “Prosecco is a product of the land and so it will always be subject to Mother Nature but given the changeable climate throughout 2015, the numbers are very encouraging.”

Good news indeed! Best stock up on a few extra bottles while it lasts.
