Gardai in Co Meath have launched an investigation after an elderly woman aged in her 80s was disgracefully conned out of €1,000.
According to LMFM Radio, the 87-year-old with dementia was deliberately robbed of her savings after the ruthless thieves brought her to an ATM in Dunboyne.
It is believed the vulnerable pensioner was taken to the machine twice after she mistakenly withdrew a smaller sum of money.
LMFM say the disgraceful act was only discovered after her daughter checked her finances a few days later.
Gardai say they have been made aware of the incident an investigation is currently ongoing.
