Gardai have confirmed that they are investigating a disgusting incident that occurred just before midnight last night in Roscrea, Co Tipperary.
An elderly couple, a gentleman aged in his 90s and his wife in her 80s were broken into in their home in the town.
Two evil thugs beat the man badly around the head and left his wife in serious shock.
They stole a small amount of cash during the robbery which saw the thugs gain entry through a window. The gentleman and his wife were taken to hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
