Dublin named the third best place to visit on the planet by leading travel guide




The nations capital Dublin has yet again been named as one of the top cities in the world by a leading travel guide.

According to Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2016 list our very own fair city is th third best place to visit on the planet, it is understood the capital was placed in third after a survey found that Kotor in Montenegro was the best destination to visit followed by Quito, Ecuador. The news of Dublin’s massive popularity has been welcomed by Fáilte Ireland’s Head of Dublin, Orla Carroll, who said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Dublin. The Lonely Planet is one of the premier sources of information for people all across the world when researching a holiday.

“Lists like this will quite literally put Dublin, and Ireland, on the map and more importantly in the mind’s eye of thousands of potential visitors. “More than that, it reinforces Dublin as a ‘must-visit’ destination which offers an incredible variety of experiences to its visitors.”
