According to a latest Ipsos MRBI opinion poll for The Irish Times, it is understood that support for drop in support for Labour and Sinn Féin, has dropped in recent days.

The latest poll figures suggest that this election campaign will be a closely contested affair as it is currently neck and neck between the main political parties. The figures suggest that we could see the possibility of a deadlocked Dáil this Friday as the vote is indecisive.

The poll says the Fine Gael party is unchanged compared at 28%.  However Labour is at 6%, down from an original 7%. Meanwhile Fianna Fáil have moved up to 23% , whilst Sinn Féin is down four points to 15% with Independents and others are up three points to 28%.

The news does not make for good reading for Labour as they are looking increasingly likely to be ousted from the Dail. Although it makes good reading for Fianna Fáil, as they now look odds on to form an unwanted coalition with Fine Gael. Meanwhile Sinn Féin will be bitterly disappointed by the sudden major slide in the numbers, making their odds of reaching government particularly slim.

However the Independents cannot be ruled out as they are holding steady, despite predictions that they would be out of the running by now.
