Euro 2016: Welsh dream ended as quick-fire double sends Portugal into the final

Wales Euro 2016 dream was ended tonight as a quick-fire double from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani sent Portugal to Sunday’s final.

In a game that saw few chances and relatively even possession it was Portugal that took the spoils within the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Although Wales did carve out some chances they rarely threatened to score, and it was star man Ronaldo that gave the Portuguese the lead when he rise highest and fired a bullet header past the Welsh keeper Wayne Hennessey. Portugal quickly doubled their lead when Nani turned in Ronaldo’s scuffed shot from six yards out.

Wales pushed on to get themselves back in the game but didn’t create any clear chances. Portugal now go on to face France or Germany in Paris on Sunday evening.
