Family of Siobhan Phillips credit murdered Garda a hero for saving their daughter’s life

“It’s okay, pet,you are safe now, he can’t hurt you any more”

Sean Phillips said these words to his daughter, just before Garda Tony Golden was shot dead by Adrian Crevan Mackin.

The shooting occurred in a small town, Omeath in Co Louth.

Mr crevan Mackin had been armed and lying in wait for Sarah Phillips and her father.

The 21 year old had gone to Omeath and had given a statement that she was in fear of her life, her family accompanying her.

On Friday the young woman had been badly beaten by Adrian Crevan Mackin and called her stepmother Norma Phillips saying simply “Norma, I’m terrified”

The 24 year old man in question was known to Louth Gardaí.

When Siobhan Phillips returned home with her father Crevan Mackin opened fired killing Garda Golden and then the young man took his own life with an illegal Glock handgun.

Sean Phillips credits the late Tony Golden with saving Siobhan’s life.

Ms Phillips is critical in Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital where her family hold a 24 hour vigil.
