Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have been banned from all football-related activities for a period of eight years.
A FIFA ethics committee made the ruling. The ban has been given for ethics code breaches surrounding a £1.3million ‘disloyal payment’ made to Platini in 2011.
FIFA’s ethics committee released this statement about the FIFA President and the President of UEFA in light of the controversy.
Sepp Blatter responded to the controversy in a press conference, insisting that he wasn’t guilty of any wrongdoing.
“I am still Fifa president. I regret, but I am not ashamed.” He stated.
