First class ticket for Halawa – Irish tax payer looks likely to foot the bill for his return to Ireland

The government’s concern about the out-of-control homeless crisis or hospital waiting crisis seems to be playing second fiddle to Ibrahim Halawa’s plight out in Egypt.

21-yr-old Halawa got off charges for his involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood protests in Cairo in 2013, now it appears the Irish tax payer has to foot the bill to take him back to Ireland.

The tax payer looks set to fly Ibrahim Halawa back to Ireland first class in luxury after the government announced it may well sent one of its private state of the art jet to pick up the freed protestor.

Halawa was found innocent after being detained for four years for partaking in Muslim Brotherhood protests against the ousting of then President of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi. He was deposed after he began to impose strict sharia law on the country.

Despite being inundated with various crises on the Homefront the government has made the return of Halawa a major priority, putting constant pressure on the Egyptian authorities to free him.

This stance has led to a significant outcry from the Irish people who are concerned that the extreme ideology that allegedly Halawa follows is a threat to this country, with many having called on the Egyptian government to keep him detained.
