A deadly strain of flu virus has claimed the lives of 34 people so far this season, including a number of children.
The HSE has confirmed the grim figure today, and has also said that the flu season will last for another 5-7 weeks.
Pregnant women, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions are strongly advised to get the flu vaccine as a precautionary measure.
