The Austrian Newspaper Kronen Zeitung has revealed that Austrian and German intelligence and security services are preparing for more Islamic State inspired lone wolf attacks, particularly against targets such as kindergartens and hospitals.
Authorities have acknowledged that new potential threats are emerging everyday as online Fundamentalist Muslim platforms loyal to I.S seek to direct and encourage more so-called lone wolf attacks.
2017 saw a spate of such attacks across Europe which are notoriously hard to prevent as the individual may have no previous criminal or terror related record and present less opportunity to security services to be detected as they operate alone.
Despite losing almost all its territory in Iraq and Syria those still loyal Islamic State are determined to carry out more atrocities in the West in revenge for its humiliating defeat.
