It was a big day for Garda recruits at Templemore Garda College as a total of 199 members have officially joined the An Garda Síochána.
In a ceremony held this morning, the new recruits were sworn in duty in front of the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, the Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan and the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
The new recruits will now join a 14,000 strong force which is ever increasing by each year.
According to the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar there are now more than 600 Garda officers than this time last year.
Meanwhile the Department of Justice say they hope to have 15,000 Garda personnel by 2021.
