A Garda has been convicted of possessing images and videos of children some of whom were under the age 10 engaging in sexual acts.
According to RTÉ News, Joseph O’Connor, 58, was found guilty of four charges at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on Wednesday.
It is understood that Mr O’Connor was charged with five counts of possessing child pornography at his home in West Dublin between 30 July and 2 August 2011, however he was found not guilty of one charge which relates to duplicates of one image.
RTÉ News say Mr O’Connor was found guilty of the four remaining charges by a jury of his peers who deliberated for just over two hours before coming to an unanimous verdict.
It is understood that Mr O’Connor will remain on bail until sentencing on Monday, November 12th.
