Chaos and anarchy loom large in the horizon, as the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) speak of no progress being made on the ongoing talks to avoid the upcoming strike.
If negotiations remain deadlocked, a second 24-hour period of industrial action will begin on Friday at 7am.
Talks will continue tomorrow, in a last-ditch attempt to avoid strike.
