Gardai in Co Laois have confirmed that two men have been arrested following an assault and the false imprisonment of an Irish Rail security guard last week.
It is understood Gardai arrested the two men who are known to them, following a wide scale investigation over the past seven days.
Gardaí say they also recovered material which was allegedly stolen from the rural compound at Kilbricken in Co Laois, on December 5th.
The two men were arrested in Carlow on Thursday afternoon and they are currently being held at Portlaoise Garda Station.
It is believed the security guard was left badly shaken after he was beaten and locked in the boot of a car for a number of hours.
