Gardai in Pearse St Station gave confirmed that singer Sinead O’Connor has been “found safe and well and is currently receiving medical treatment”.

There was grave concern for the 49-yr-old after she posted some odd messages on her Facebook page yesterday and today. The statuses have since been removed but they included the following:

“The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in ireland, under another name.”

Another status said “well done guys, you’ve finally got rid of me. Sorry the penny didn’t drop sooner. I’m an idiot.”

The singer stated in October that she is quitting the music industry.

Gardai have refused to comment further on the situation.
