Gardaí in Co Carlow have confirmed that an investigation has begun after a woman aged in her 50s was found unconscious and injured in Pollerton Castle over the weekend.
It is understood the woman was discovered on the grounds of Pollerton Castle on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí say the woman was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny were her condition is described as serious.
They are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the area between the hours of 2am and 5am on Sunday morning to contact them
