Gardai in Limerick have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 24 year old man over the weekend.
It is understood the investigation comes after post-mortem examination results showed that the man Patrick O’Connor, died as a result of a number of stab wounds.
Gardai say Mr O’Connor was stabbed at Fitzgerald’s pub on Sexton Street in Thomondgate at approximatley 12am on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Officers investigating the incident say a man aged in his 40s was arrested on Monday and he is being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station.
