Government set to introduce new legislation that will see the Local Property Tax frozen until 2019

It has been confirmed that the Government will introduce a new legislation before Christmas that will freeze the rate on Local Property Tax until 2019.

It is understood that the new legislation will see the valuation of properties made in May 2013 remain in place until 2019 at least. The government say there will be no change in tax regardless whether a property increase or decreases in value. It was widely believed the next valuation date was set for November 2016, but the Minster for Finance Michael Noonan has since said he would postpone the revaluation date for the LPT until 2019 at the earliest.

The new legislation will also see properties with pyrite being exempt from LPT. The government also say people with disabilities will also be given reliefs from LPT.
