HPV vaccine will be reviewed after teachers union pass motion calling for change

The controversial HPV Vaccine will be reviewed over the coming months ahead, after the Teachers’ Union of Ireland have called on the Department of Health to review the current adminstration process for young girls.

The union who are currently holding their annual conference in Co Cork submitted a motion that was overwhelmingly passed that will see the Department Of Health reviewing the HPV vaccine programme with the hope that will be moved from schools to health clinics.

The latest mtion was spearheaded by Leitrim teacher Sean Wynne, who’s also a member of the Gardasil Awareness Group (Gardasil is the brand name of the HPV vaccine).

Speaking about the motion Mr Wynne told reporters that he was delighted that the motion was passed, and that he fully believes health care centres or clinics are a more appropriate place for the vaccination to be administered.
