RTE has reportedly received hundreds of complaints about their intervew with convicted drug trafficker Michaella McCollum.

It appears the public isn’t happy with the broadcaster for allowing Ms. McCollum state her case as to why she decided to chance being a drug mule.

The national broadcaster has defended the interview, which was conducted by a contractor working for RTE, but so far as not divulged whether licence fee allocated money was partly funded the programme.

Ms. McCollum said that it (agreeing to be a drug mule) was all ‘a moment of madness’ after ‘days of partying.’ She also said that “I want to demonstrate that I’m a good person.”

Complaints have been flying into the Donnybrook based station. Social media too has seen a very divided battle of the woman.

One user wrote:
“I can’t believe my TV licence fee is being used to interview a criminal. Why don’t we interview all convicted criminals?”

While another wrote:
“She was a young girl who just did a very stupid mistake. Everyone deserves a second chance”.
