Last Sunday’s All Ireland Hurling Final was a memorable day for Limerick as they ended a 45 year wait to lift the Liam MacCarthy cup.

However Sunday’s nail bitting one point victory over Galway has caused a stir of a different kind as the Minister for Transport Shane Ross took a sly dig at Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae.

Mr Healy-Rae who was pictured seemingly having a snooze in Croke Park on Sunday, has led to a war of words between the two Dail stalwarts.

The unusual row between the country’s two high profile political figures was kick started after Mr Ross seemingly took aim at the photograph of Mr Healy-Rae.

In a twitter post Mr Ross accused the Independent TD of wasting his ticket by posting the photo with the following caption: “Is this a waste of a good ticket?!!”

Although the remark was thought to be of a joking nature, it seems that Mr Healy-Rae didn’t see the funny side of the post claiming that Minister Ross was trying to “make a man of himself”.

The Independent TD also defended the picture by saying he was tired and he only closed his eyes during half-time of the All Ireland Minor Hurling match which was held before hand.

Mr Healy-Rae stated that he was tired after he helped organise a bus to bring patients who needed cataracts operations from Kerry to Belfast on Saturday morning.

He added that he stayed up late on Saturday evening to celebrate Kilgarvan’s intermediate county hurling final victory, before boarding an early morning train to Dublin.
