There could be some further industrial action ahead after the organisation representing Special Needs Assistants across the country have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action.
It is believed the threat of strike action comes as assistants have grown annoyed over the Department of Educations delay in publishing allowances for the 2018 school year.
The IMPACT organisation say many special needs assistants feel they are being ignored by the department especially given the fact they do not know whether or not they will have employment next year.
IMPACT say the failure to outline the 2018 calendar has left many staff in limbo as they fear they will be unable to find employment in 2018 as they are waiting to see if they are needed at schools across the country.
