The incident happened at around 10pm (local time) on Wednesday night at the Sky Beach Condimumim complex in the Chonburi region, Thailand.

Reportedly, the 49-year-old Irishman was living in the apartment complex with his 47-year-old Thai partner, and it is understood the pair had been out celebrating the Chinese new year.

When they returned home, the man became distressed and upset after reading an email allegedly communicating that his Irish property was being seized.

Reports say that the man became irate and allegedly hit his girlfriend, who left then room to get security.

When a security man and the woman returned to the room, the Irishman was standing on the balcony railings, seconds before jumping to his death from the 36th floor apartment.

The Thai woman said that the man had previously spoken to her of a legal dispute in Ireland, and had mentioned the property in question might be seized.
