It’s Finally Here! Today is the day Dublin’s “I Believe in Christmas Village” officially opens

It has been in the works for the past couple of a months and everyone has been waiting patiently, but today is the day that Dublin’s I Believe in Christmas Village opens this evening.

The new winter wonderland based at the Custom House Quarter, in the city will officially open its doors to the public later today and will run from Thursday, 26 November until Wednesday, 23 December. The official opening will be marked with the switching on of the village’s Christmas lights on it’s centrepiece, a massive 50 foot Christmas tree which is inspired by the famous Rockefeller tree in New York. The highly anticipated Christmas market will open at 4pm followed by the lighting of the giant tree at 5pm.

Meanwhile the event’s organisers say the 28-day event will be Ireland’s first winter food, drink, craft and horticulture festival. It is understood the festival will focus on supporting Irish businesses, traders, craftspeople, producers and charities. The Christmas wonderland will reportedly help create 230 temporary jobs and will have over 10,000 visitors per day which will in turn inject an estimated €8.4 million into the economy.
