‘Jackass’ star Steve-O has been arrested after climbing a crane in Hollywood in protest against Seaworld. Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover grabbed the attention of dozens of emergency responders to a construction site where he had climbed a crane that was 100 feet (30m) tall.
According to Los Angeles Police, Steve-O reached the top of the crane where he inflated a killer whale balloon which was marked with the words”Seaworld Sucks” on it and lit fireworks. He climbed down on his own and was taken into custody.
Steve-O’s plans were no secret as he told fans of his intentions to perform a stunt posting a photo online with the inflatable whale he names “Shammy”.
He wrote: “This is Shammy. We’re going to do a big dangerous stunt in Los Angeles tomorrow that will probably get me in a lot of trouble, and you can watch it happen via a live stream, right here on Facebook, starting at exactly 7pm PST. See you then… #yeahdude”
The first responders were unsure whether Glover needed to be rescued emergency services prepared to cushion his fall.
SeaWorld has received a lot of criticism lately about its treatment of animals, especially since the release of the documentary Blackfish which highlights the treatment of killer whales.
