London’s murder rate has over taken that of New York new crime statistics show with gang violence in the city continuing to increase.
Violent crime in London is rapidly increasing, knife crimes in particular are up significantly with 36 people having been stabbed to death in the UK capital so far this year.
Just in the past week a 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded while a 17-year-old girl was shot and and killed in a drive by gun attack.
London is also now one of the worst cities in the world for acid attacks, with authorities describing the number of acid attacks as epidemic proportions.
Now the lead surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust in East London, Dr. Mark Griffiths, has gone on record on BBC Radio describing the situation in London hospitals dealing with the fallout from this violence as akin to a “warzone”.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has blamed cuts to police resources for the failure to tackle the issue but many have criticised the mayor for wasting too much resources preventing and prosecuting so called hate crimes such as offensive speech online.
