In a truly horrifying statistic it has been reported that at least 6,700 Rohingya Muslims were brutally killed in just one month this year by the Myanmar security forces.
The alarming figures which have now been labelled as mass genocide comes after the Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontièrescharity) compiled a report that around 9,000 Rohingya Muslims were killed as they tried to flee their homeland.
According to the charity the staggering death toll was recorded from the month beginning on August 24th and ending September 24th.
However the Myanmar army have refuted the claims saying they only killed four hundred Rohingya Muslims who were alleged to be ‘known terrorists’.
The charity also revealed of the 6,700 people who were killed at least 69% of those were shot, with 730 of those being children under the age of five.
MSF say although the figures have not officially been verified it is believed the number could exceed that of the given estimate as the chairty has not yet accounted for those hiding in refugee camps across Bangladesh.
The brutal mass murder and raping of Rohingya Muslims have been condemned western leaders and human rights activists who have called the actions by Myanmar government a form of ethnic cleansing, a statement which has been denied by the Myanmar government who reiterate their stance by claiming they are only killing extremist terrorists belonging to a new Rohingya militant group.
It has been uncovered that more than 640,000 Rohingya Muslims have been forced to flee the region into near by Bangladesh in the hope of escaping the ruthless army.
