The Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin is facing the wrath of the party’s grassroots over this controversial comments about supporting abortion up to 12 weeks.
Martin, who is a Cork South Central TD, made his comments last Thursday in the Dail. They’ve been met with anger from the grassroots of the party who claim Fianna Fail is a “pro life party”.
Recently, the party voted overwhelmingly in favour of keeping the Eighth Amendment – the amendment in the constitution which states that an unborn baby has the equal right to life as its mother.
Kilkenny/Carlow TD Bobby Aylward, who is Pro Life, is currently assembling a team of Fianna Fail TDs and Senators to combat what Martin said in the Dail.
