A group of anonymous women have received the backing of thousands of Irish people after they formed an organisation that is removing water meters from homes across the country.
The group who are called the Women Water Warriors have already received strong support online after their Facebook page got over a thousand likes in less than 24 hours.
According to their page the women say they decided to join forces and are looking for more people to join them as they don’t accept water meters not water charges.
In their opening post the women who are seen on video happily removing a water meter from a property in a an unknown location, the video which has gotten a over thousand reactions already, also contained the following statement: “We are a collective of women, coming together for civil disobedience, and direct action, in the removal of water meters, because we already pay for our water.”
“We do not accept that 133 litres is in anyway whatsoever sufficient for a daily allowance.”We refuse to stand by and allow our water become a commodity to be sold.”
“The continuation of meter installation, confirms our belief, that every meter installed is a step closer to privatization.”
“We have been betrayed by our elected representatives, with false promises.”
“We will continue with the removal of meters, as our democratic right to to have a peoples referendum, to enshrine our water in our constitution is being denied to the people of Ireland.”
“Let the people decide, give us our referendum. Women Water Warriors.”
The women also say they hope to gain enough support in the future which will hopefully go along way to get rid of water meters once and for all.
