New Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar holds “positive and constructive” meeting with Simon Coveney

The newly elected Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar has met with Simon Coveney in what has been described as a positive and constructive meeting for all involved.

The fiercely fought leadership battle seems well and truly behind both men who say they’ll work together for the party and the country.

It’s not yet known what shake-up Varadkar plans on doing within the Fine Gael party, but the 30-yr-old Minister for Health Simon Harris is said to be on the chopping board.

It’s also being mooted that Simon Coveney may well be either the new Tanaiste replacing Frances Fitzgerald or indeed Minister for Finance instead of Michael Noonan.

Leo said that he intends on forming a COBRA-like organisation within his first 50 days as Taoiseach to help combat terrorism here in Ireland.
