Notorious cult leader and serial killer Charles Manson dies aged 83 after spending over four decades behind bars

According to reports in the US the notorious killer Charles Manson​ has died aged 83.

Manson who orchestrated a string of murders in the 60s apparently died of natural causes overnight the California Department of Corrections have confirmed.

The famed serial killer who was serving nine consecutive life terms in prison after being convicted in 1971, came to the attentions of the world back in 1969 when he and his followers committed a string of horrendous murders with the most notable being the brutal killing of heavily pregnant Sharon Tate the late wife of Roman Polanski.

Manson who served more than four decades behind bars is known to have played a major part that seen his cult widely known as ‘The Manson Family’ kill up to nine people in attempt to heighten racial tensions in the US back in the late 60s.

The convicted killer who influenced his followers mainly young woman through the use of drugs also claimed that he was a reincarnation of our lord Jesus Christ.

Manson who narrowly avoided the death penalty as result of a change to Californian state laws had been up for parole 12 times which were unanimously denied by the California State Corrections parole board on each occasion.
