Opinion: Ryan Tubridy acted like an angry thug and showed RTE’s bias while interviewing Peter Casey

Ryan Tubridy couldn’t have been more sycophantic towards former President Mary Robinson on last night’s Late Late Show.

Agreeing with her, licking up to her, practically kissing the ground she walked on, Tubridy showed precisely which side of the fence he stood on.

The contrast couldn’t be more evident though when just over one hour later, free speech activist, man of the moment and the person who garnered some 342,000 first preference votes in the Presidential election, Peter Casey came onto the show.

Peter gave a sterling performance even though there seemed to be a very loaded audience against the Derry man.

Tubridy appeared to lose all control of the interview when a gang of travellers in the audience “ambushed” Peter with ridiculous comments about his statements on travellers down in Tipperary who rejected beautiful houses because they hadn’t two stables and one acre of land.

Peter, rightfully in my opinion, said that there’s homeless people in Dublin who’d give their right arm for one of those beautiful houses. How right he is!

Tubridy at times appeared angry, aggressive and even childish. Again, the contrast to has-been Robinson couldn’t have been clearer.

Peter said that he is definitely going to pursue his career in politics and will be Taoiseach. He’s strategically looking at joining Fianna Fail and giving Martin the door and let’s hope he really does stick to his work, get into the Dail and really shake things up – the establishment hate him and that only means one thing – he’s doing something right!
