Rescue 116: A trawler assisted by the Garda Water Unit will resume search for missing crewmembers Paul Ormsby and Ciaran Smith tomorrow

A trawler and divers attached to the Garda Water Unit will resume the search for Paul Ormsby and Ciaran Smith, crewmembers still missing from the doomed Rescue 116 craft, tomorrow morning.

The search area will include the northern and western approaches to Black Rock Island off the Mayo coast.

Rescue 116, a Sikorsky S-92A operating with the Irish Coast Guard, crashed at Blackrock off the Mayo coast in March, killing its entire crew. The bodies of Capt. Dara Fitzpatrick and Mark Duffy were located soon after. Paul Ormsby and Ciaran Smith remain missing, presumed dead.

The helicopter crashed against a rock formation that the onboard terrain avoidance system had not warned them about.

Flaws with the terrain avoidance system had reportedly been flagged months before the fatal flight.
