Retailers in the south fear a massive exodus of shoppers across the border, to take advantage of the plunging value of Sterling

Tills may not be a-ringin’ so much for retailers across the Republic this Christmas, as the sinking value of Sterling enables shoppers to get much better value across the border.

And with potential savings of up to 43%, the incentives are certainly there to shun retailers that routinely rip customers off.

Alcohol, consumer electronics, and toys are among the items that can be purchased at a substantially cheaper price over the border, even when factoring in petrol/transport expenditure.

The Christmas shopping season is about to kick off, so retailers in the south certainly have reasons to be concerned.
