Gardaí in Dublin have launched an investigation after an alleged abduction attempt in Terenure just over a week ago.

According to Dublin Live a man was arrested after he attempted to abduct a two-year-old girl from a Lidl supermarket whilst she was out shopping with her mother.

The alleged incident occurred on February 26, when the suspect aged in his 60s tried to lure the toddler by holding her hand and walking her towards the door.

Speaking to the paper the distraught mother gave her account of the incident saying she was standing in the store when she let go of her child’s hand as she moved her trolley around the corner of an aisle.

The emotional mum further explained that she was left in panic and went looking for her child, only to find a man had taken her.

Thankfully she revealed she managed to get to her daughter in time, although the man managed to flee the scene after paying for his groceries.

However a short time the man was arrested, before he was questioned on suspicion of abduction. He has since been released without charge.
