Police in the US have launched an investigation after a one year old child was left in critical condition in hospital after his mother ran him over when he was thrown from the vehicle.
According to reports stateside the tot is believed to be in critical condition in hospital after he sustained multiple injuries in the incident which occurred in Memphis Tennessee.
Police investigating the incident say the infant was run over after his mother frantically tried to flee the scene during a heated altercation with her husband.
The boy’s mother and a number of eyewitnesses have said the child was run over after she tried to flee from her husband who fired gunshots in her direction.
It is thought the tot fell out of the vehicle before he was tragically ran over by his mother who was unware of his presence outside of the vehicle.
A spokesperson for Memphis police has said a major investigation is currently underway and both parents have been brought in for questioning.
