A young woman has been left badly injured and severly traumatised after she was gang-raped by three men for more than eight hours.
The shocking attack which occurred in Northern India, has now led to police launching a manhunt for the three men involved.
According to The Times of India, the 19-year-old woman was subjected to the horrific assault after the men drugged her and kidnapped her.
It is reported that the three men who are known to the victim, took her to a secluded area where they took turns raping her.
Following the eight hour ordeal the young woman was then abandoned at a bus stop before one of her attackers phoned her family to inform them where they could find her.
Police investigating the attack say the young woman was taken to hospital for treatment after she sustained neck, back, shoulder and genital injuries.
Officers say the victim has received treatment and she currently remains in stable condition. Meanwhile a family member has told the paper that the young woman has been left unable to talk following the attack.
The family member said she was unable to speak as she sustained throat injuries which are believed to have come when the men held her down whilst they sexually assaulted her.
It is understood that investigating officers have issued an appeal to the public as the search for the men continues.
Officers say the three alleged attackers have switched off their phones and have left their homes in order to evade capture.
