There’s been widespread condemnation after two Northern Irish supporters got a fairly bad beating outside the Aviva Stadium on Thursday before Ireland and Northern Ireland’s friendly (but it must be said incredibly boring) game.
Andrew Meeke from Dundald. Co Down and his brother-in-law Richard Rooney were attacked on the Shelbourne Road outside the Aviva in what has been deemed a completely unprovoked attack.
The men were set upon by a group of thugs who swung blindly at the men where gardai have to rush in and stop the fracas.
Emergency personnel treated the men before the game started, but from the picture that they tweeted, you can see they needed head attention including various bandages.
The attack was condemned online from both sides of the border.
