Social media users outraged after a woman had to be rescued in dangerous conditions in Dún Laoghaire 




The public have been urged to heed warnings and not to go swimming in the current weather conditions. 

It is understood Gardaí were forced to issue the announcement after a woman  had to be rescued from Dun Laoghaire this morning.

In what has caused outrage on social media, footage of the drastic rescue which occurred at Sandycove showed two people attempting to swim as high waves caused by 110kmph winds battered the shoreline.

The footage has left many people angry with many calling the couple’s actions wreckless and dangerous.

A number of people also said their thoughtlessness also caused serious risk to others as emergency services had to battle the extreme weather conditions to rescue them. 

It is believed the woman was taken to a nearby hospital were she is currently receiving treatment.
