There still could yet be strike action at Bus Eireann in the coming weeks ahead after it was revealed last night that talks between management and union members had broken down.
The news will come as a major blow to the company as it was initially hoped that prospect of strike action could be averted.
However it now seems likely the proposed strike action will happen after union chiefs confirmed talks have come to a stand still.
In a brief statement released last night, a spokesperson for Bus Éireann management claimed that unions were unwilling to accept “any reduction of earnings, including unnecessary overtime earnings”.
