The writing’s firmly etched on the wall for Irish Water, after today’s announcement that the company’s long walk into corporate oblivion will be littered with 1,200 ex staff.
Nevertheless, Joan Burton has unashamedly reached for a microphone and announced that the job losses will inevitably lead to a more “efficient” service.
Ms. Burton said All of the redundancies will either be through retirement or voluntary redundancy arrangements,” said Burton.
“I would be very confident that the end result is going to be a very efficient water service for Ireland.”
