The Narrow Water Bridge can be delivered on time, claims Martin

The Narrow Water Bridge, which connects Northern Ireland with the Republic of Ireland, can be constructed “on time and within budget,” according to Tánaiste, reports RTE.

Cross-border villages in the Omeath region of County Louth and Narrow Water in County Down, who had long desired the bridge’s construction, served as the project’s inspiration, according to Micheál Martin.

When finished, the 195-meter cable-stayed bridge would connect the Mourne Mountains directly to the Cooley Peninsula, which is where the Newry River and Carlingford Lough meet, reports RTE.

The bridge will be open for usage by cars, bikes, and pedestrians when it is finished in 2027.

A Shared Island Fund contribution of about €102 million + VAT is being made by the Irish government for this project, reports RTE.
