23-yr-old Ailish Sheehan, from Kildimo, Co Limerick, suffered serious head injuries after falling on a footpath just hours after celebrating winning a Bronze medal at the FISU World University Rowing Championships recently.
It’s understood the freak accident happened just a mere few hours after Ailish finished in third place to take the bronze for Team Great Britain.
Sadly the Limerick woman passed away today after fighting for the past week. Her family kept a vigil at her hospital bedside.
Ailish was studying Design and Environment in the University of London.
